What a day it was at the 2025 Swarmer SA Open! Day 2 brought thrilling upsets, heroic performances, and plenty of nail-biting action as the squash battles reached new heights. Fans packed the courts, anticipation crackling in the air, and the matches did not disappoint!
Muniandy’s Magic: The Local Hope Advances!
In a showdown dripping with tension, Somerton Squash Center’s very own Rema Muniandy carved her name into the quarterfinals! The world number 155 fought tooth and nail against her friend Pascal Louka, in a gripping five-game spectacle, edging out a 3-2 victory. The crowd erupted in cheers as the home-grown talent booked her spot to face Ella Lash—New Zealand’s formidable 19-year-old and fourth seed. Their clash at 5:30 PM today promises fireworks!
Hong Kong’s Squash Storm: Sweeping Through the Seeds
Hong Kong’s powerhouse squad put on a masterclass, dominating Day 2 and causing absolute havoc in the draws. Five seeds were sent packing, while an astonishing seven Hong Kong players powered into the quarterfinals, proving their depth and skill.
Among the casualties? None other than the women’s top two seeds!
- Helen Tang, the tournament’s top pick, fell in a five-game thriller against Wing Wei, both from Hong Kong.
- Second seed Madison Lyon, a fierce competitor from Queensland, was stunned by Bobo Lam, another Hong Kong talent, in yet another 3-2 upset.
Meanwhile, the men’s draw was rocked by more Hong Kong brilliance, as they knocked out the second, third, and fifth seeds!

The Pakistani fourth seed and former world junior champion found himself in an absolute brawl against Egypt’s fan-favourite Shady Sherbini, who had won the hearts of locals by hitting with club players before the event.
The crowd—three rows deep—was roaring as the match got increasingly physical, each rally fierce and relentless. In the end, Kahn clinched a 3-1 win, breaking Egyptian hearts but securing his date with Tomo Endo of Japan in yet another must-watch quarter-final at 5:30 PM today!
