Diversity refers to the different characteristics of people who make up our community. This includes:
- Gender - including male, female, non-binary
- Age
- Race - including nationality, ethnicity, colour
- Culture
- Religion
- Sexual Orientation - including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer
- Disability - including intellectual, physical or sensory disabilities
The term inclusion refers to what we do to ensure our diverse community is reflected in our membership. Being inclusive means being proactive in the way we plan, lead and control the delivery of sport and recreation opportunities for everyone.
DIVERSITY is who we are in the community.
INCLUSION is what we do to embrace community members.
PARTICIPATION is how we engage members.
PROGRAMS are where members belong.
Inclusive Squash and Racquetball
An inclusive sport welcomes and embraces individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and identities. The sport fosters an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported, regardless of differences such as race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, or cultural background.
Inclusivity within the sport means creating opportunities for all members to participate, contribute and collaborate, ensuring that everyone has equal access to the sport’s activities, resources and leadership roles. The goal is to promote mutual understanding, respect, and a sense of belonging for all individuals.
Our Programs
To ensure our sports are accessible and welcoming to all, Squash SA provides a variety of programs in partnership with our community that support participation of the following groups:
Rainbow Racquets Adelaide: LGBTQA+, Allies, family and friends
ParaQuad SA: Wheelchair Squash
First Nations People: Aboriginal School Squash Carnival
Squash SA want all participants, officials, volunteers and spectators to feel safe and welcome in our sport. We do not tolerate language and behaviours that discriminate, harass or vilify based on culture, age, gender identity, ability, religion or sexual orientation.
