Burra Referee Session a Great Success
Squash SA recently travelled to Burra in SA’s Mid North to deliver a referee session for the first time at the Burra Squash Club.
Having become fully affiliated with Squash SA this season, Burra has continued to build a strong and enthusiastic squash community. With some passionate local advocates getting out into the community, talking to people and encouraging new players to give squash a go, the club has grown its playing numbers this year.
That enthusiasm was certainly on show, with an impressive 38 club members taking part in the referee session, including a fantastic number of junior players. There were plenty of questions, a few laughs, and hopefully everyone came away with a little more confidence and understanding when it comes to refereeing the game.
The evening continued across the road at the Royal Exchange Hotel for the club’s end-of-season dinner and awards, with more than 50 attendees, with players, families and supporters attending.
It was a great opportunity for Squash SA to spend time with one of our regional clubs and see first-hand the community that continues to grow around squash in Burra. Congratulations to everyone involved on a terrific season and a fantastic turnout.
