Mike Corren and Melissa Martin Crowned World Masters Champions

South Australia's squash community has plenty to celebrate following the outstanding achievements of Michael Corren and Melissa Martin at the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships in Perth. Mike stormed through the Men's 50+ draw without dropping a game to claim the world title, while Melissa captured the Women's 50+ crown after reaching multiple World Masters finals in previous years. Their victories capped off a memorable championship for both players and Australian squash.

The championships brought together more than 900 players from 55 nations over eight days of competition, making it one of the largest and most prestigious masters squash events in the world. Australia enjoyed an incredibly successful tournament on home soil, claiming eight world titles across the championships.

Melissa Martin claimed the Women's 50+ World Masters title after a dramatic five-game final against fellow Australian Jane Kennedy. Melissa surged to a two-game lead before Kennedy fought back to level the match at two games all. Undeterred, Melissa responded in style, dominating the deciding game to secure her first World Masters crown. Having previously finished runner-up on two occasions, the victory was a well-deserved reward for years of dedication and perseverance.

In the men's competition, former World No. 38 Michael Corren delivered a dominant performance throughout the tournament to claim the Men's 50+ World Masters title. Entering the event as the top seed, Mike progressed through the draw without dropping a game, defeating players from Wales, Spain, England and the United States before overcoming American Alexander Clark in straight games in the final.

Mike's title-winning run showcased the skill and experience that have made him one of Australia's most respected squash players. His success on the world stage is another remarkable achievement in an already distinguished squash career.
